Lauren is native to the Bay Area and devoted member of the local theatre community. A founding member and Artistic Associate of The San Francisco Playhouse she was the resident Casting Director for 10 years, casting all roles for the main stage and Sandbox. Favorite SF Playhouse directing credits: Significant Other by Joshua Harmon, Non-Player Character by Walt McGough, 1 2 3, a World Premiere by Lila Rose Kaplan, and The Mystery Plays by Roberto Aguirre Sacasa. Since 2003 she’s performed over 25 productions with the San Francisco Playhouse. Favorite performances include; Kate, in Seminar (TBA Award Nomination); Pilot, in Grounded; Steph, in Reasons To Be Pretty, Sally in Cabaret; Emily in Our Town; and Lisa, in The Glory of Living.
In 2009, She graduated from the Graduate Acting Program at NYU’s Tisch School of The Arts under Mark Wing-Davey and Zelda Fichandler. While in New York, she worked at The Public Theatre, TACT Theatre (Off Broadway), The New York Times Theatre (Off Broadway), Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Lark Theatre, Playwrights Realm, and The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey.
Since returning to the Bay Area, she’s expanded her focus to include teaching, and artistic leadership. Along with private coaching, she’s co-founder of The Actors Space: a holistic, professional actor training program in union square San Francisco. She is also a Teaching Artist at ACT, Berkeley Rep, San Francisco State University, and St. Mary's College, among others. Occasionally she comes back to the stage and has also performed with The Aurora Theatre Company, Marin Theatre Company, California Shakespeare Festival, The Magic Theatre, Marin Shakespeare Festival, among others.
She is the resident casting director at The Bay Area Playwright’s Foundation. She is a two-time BATCC award winner and three-time Dean Goodman award recipient.
